Words Apart

We believe that creativity is one of our most powerful tools for changing people’s minds about us.

Back in 2019 we hosted a free evening of art, poetry and discussion at the Mile End Ecology Pavilion, to an audience of over 100. Our artwork provides an insight into the lives of young people like us, on the sharp end of hostile immigration policy, and gave us control and agency over how our experiences are told, and by who. Our audience told us that their assumptions about young migrants had changed as a result of the event, and we hope that by sharing our poetry and podcasts further we can keep changing people’s minds about who we are.

This work was funded with additional funding from Arts Council England and the Equality Trust.
